Ciputra University Students Design Ponorogo Batik More Modern and Fashionable

The design of Ponorogo batik was transformed by 7 students majoring in Fashion Design and Business (FDB) Ciputra University (UC) to be more modern. The creation of the work aims to make this typical Ponorogo batik more fashionable and suitable for all age generations.

One of the students who made the batik, Muhammad Atho’illah, said that the most challenging thing in the project was the placement of the motif.

“Quite complex. Because the motifs used must be in harmony and support each other’s clothing items in one collection,” he explained yesterday (20/2).

Muhammad’s colleague, Risna, said that the challenge of making a batik design to look more modern was not easy because the motifs and patterns of the batik were already very strong.

“The fear is that the design of the clothes will look less modern or even look excessive and clash,” he continued.

In the same place, another student Vivi Angelia King admitted that the Ponorogo batik design looks more modern because they created the silhouette side of the clothes.

“We added a little asymmetrical design element,” she said.

Meanwhile, the Specialized Fashion Product Design Course Coordinator Yoanita Tahalele said that this work was made to introduce Ponorogo batik with a more modern and fashionable design.

“Hopefully it can be used by the Ponorogo district government to promote their cultural wealth,” she explained. *Man

Not only creating designs, said Yoanita, the student has also conducted market tests to promote the results of her batik designs, both online and offline. As a result, many are interested in the design.
