In the legend, the Warok Ponorogo is often depicted as having a mainstay weapon in the form of a magic belt (Kolor), but in the real world they also have another very important heirloom weapon that must be owned, namely the mothik.
Deputy Chairman Pramono Hamka Arifin said that the mothik is a variant of a slashing sword that is shaped like a klewang and is short. The short meaning is of course in terms of European standards.
“In the writings of Mbah Purwowijoyo, the length is about one hand,” he said.
The existence of the Mothik in the Ponorogo community in the past was very vital, especially for the warok, village heads, village officials, and community leaders.

“As conveyed by the elders, its main function in its time was to protect oneself because in the past security was not as good as it is now. So to protect oneself, protect one’s family & protect one’s village, some people in the past had a mothik,” he said. Meanwhile, Catur, the Head of Pramono explained that the existence of this mothik conservation association is expected to be a forum for preserving and educating the community.
“We will try to propose a patent. So that it is not claimed by our neighbors like what happened to Pecut Samandiman which has been claimed by Kediri,” he explained.
Catur added that this preservation effort will not stop in a community, his party also admitted that it is ready to collaborate with the government if the Ponorogo Civilization Museum is built in the future.

“If the Ponorogo Civilization Museum is built, we are ready to collaborate because mothik is also included in the special civilization of the Ponorogo community,” he concluded.
The Pangrekso Mothik Ponorogo (Pramono) Association was declared on Sunday, December 22, 2024 at Joglo Paju. *Man
