Building a Cyber Security Ecosystem, Ponorogo Regency Launches Computer Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT)

Improving the security of digital infrastructure from the increasing threat of cyber attacks, the Ponorogo Regency Government (Pemkab) has launched the Computer Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT). The launch of Ponorogo CSIRT is the result of collaboration with the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN). This launch was officially carried out in the PGRI Ponorogo Building Hall. Ponorogo Regency is the 13th district/city in East Java to launch CSIRT.

BSSN Central Government Cyber and Crypto Security Director, Tjatur Pudji Handojo, revealed that the formation or launch of CSIRT is part of the government’s efforts to build a cyber security ecosystem at the regional government (Pemda) level.

“The launch of CSIRT is the government’s effort to build a cyber security ecosystem at the regional level,” said Tjatur, who was present at the launch of CSIRT in Ponorogo, Wednesday (25/10/2023).

Currently, according to Tjatur, cyber attacks in Indonesia are increasing rapidly. Efforts or steps taken like this are of course also in line with the constitution. Which emphasizes the protection of the entire Indonesian nation, especially in the use of information technology.

Furthermore, Tjatur also said that the development of the cyber world was growing rapidly. However, on the other hand, cybercrime has also increased. Now the government is trying to be present, namely through CSIRT to protect against cyber crime.

“We know that the development of the cyber world is currently growing rapidly, on the other hand, cyber crime is also increasing. Therefore, the government is here through CSIRT to protect against cyber crime,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the East Java Diskominfo, Sherlita Ratna Dewi Agustin, noted that more than 2 million cyber attacks had been successfully anticipated by the East Java Provincial Government (Pemprov) through the CSIRT program. This is proof that digital security is very important, especially for local governments. It is hoped that steps like this will make Ponorogo more resilient in facing cyber attacks. Of course, if left unchecked, cyber attacks could threaten digital infrastructure and sensitive local government data.

“Cybersecurity is increasingly important in this increasingly advanced digital era,” he said.

Head of Diskominfo Ponorogo Sapto Djatmiko added that CSIRT is a special tool used to identify cyber attacks. Whether it attacks hardware or software. Therefore, the CSIRT program from BSSN is mandatory for local governments as an anticipatory measure against potential cyber attacks. “We are anticipating cyber attacks, especially since the website belonging to Kominfo Ponorogo has experienced one. Reflecting on that, through CSIRT it is hoped that similar incidents will not happen again,” concluded Sapto. Adv/Ptr
