Preparing to become a creative city, Ponorogo Regency Government is trying to grow the tourism ecosystem

Ponorogo Creative Week 2023 was officially opened by Ponorogo Regent Sugiri Sancoko, Tuesday (24/10/2023).

31 small business booths and various art performances enlivened the activities which were held for 5 days in Aloon-Aloon, Ponorogo City.

Head of the Ponorogo Tourism, Youth and Sports Culture Service (Disbudparpora) Judha Slamet Sarwo Edi said that creative economy industry players in the Craft and Culinary sub-sector were being collaborated to enliven activities aimed at actualizing the creative city of Ponorogo. Even with efforts to nominate Bumi Reyog as the 2024 UNESCO Creative City Network (UCCN).

“Participants. From the craft and culinary subsector, there are 32 UMKMs. There are also arts communities and the Ponorogo indie film community taking part in this event,” he said.

Judha added that previously he had stopped by with the Ponorogo PKK Movement Team to hold a student batik competition which was held from 1 to 20 October.

“Batik student competition in collaboration with TP-PKK Ponorogo October 1-20. “UMKM Bazaar on October 24-28,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Regent of Ponorogo, Sugiri Sancoko, said that, not only as a driver of the creative economy, Creative Week is also a trigger for the emergence of new creative industry players in this region in welcoming Ponorogo as a world network of creative cities.

So the effort to grow the tourism ecosystem in Ponorogo is really real. Previously there was Creative Ponorogo, Grebeg Suro, Ponorogo Rikolo Semono, now Creative Week. In order for the economy to grow, there is trade, there is culinary, there is art. “In order to be able to answer the challenges ahead,” he.

Sugiri hopes that the community can take part in this economic growth effort, especially for creative industry players so they can participate in innovation, not just as cheerleaders amidst the Regency Government’s efforts to grow the economic sector through the creative industry.

“You have to follow it, don’t just make sense. For example, pedestrians are everywhere but there are no creative industry players such as painting, crafts, creative t-shirts. The only ones that grow are street vendors and cafes. It’s good, but it would be better if it was equipped with that. So that “UMKMs grow because there is a market,” he concluded. Adv/Man
