The Ponorogo Regency Government is again holding an event, this time with the theme “Ponorogo Rikolo Semono.” This event is proof of the Ponorogo Regency Government’s commitment to reviving past culture which is expected to have a positive impact on the local economy.
The Regent of Ponorogo, Sugiri Sancoko, is confident that this event, which carries the concept of focusing on the past, will be able to create a meaningful economic turnaround. The Ponorogo Rikolo Semono event is planned to take place from Thursday to Saturday, 21 to 30 September 2023.
The Regent also expressed his belief that this event would be a boost to the local economy. He described this event as an economic windmill that could provide a breath of fresh air for the Ponorogo area.
“We believe that having an economic wheel is like making a stuffy room that requires a small fan, even though it is small it can circulate the air so it becomes fresh air. This fresh air is an activity,” said Regent Sugiri Sancoko.
Furthermore, the Regent also emphasized that the Ponorogo Rikolo Semono event was not just an ordinary celebration or party. This is part of the Ponorogo Regency Government’s long-term plan to revive the cultural heritage of the past.
“We have Rikolo Semono spending, we encourage people to remember the past when there were ludruk, ketoprak, wayang orang, kopi pikul, soto tenda abang, we took it in that direction, slowly it became an event,” said Regent Sugiri Sancoko.
The Ponorogo Rikolo Semono event itself is still in the embryonic stage, with the main focus on Ponorogo Square. However, the Regent emphasized that if this event proves successful, the plan is to expand it to the Batoro Katong area. That way, there will be more active life and economic circulation in the old city of Ponorogo.
It is hoped that the Ponorogo Rikolo Semono event will not only evoke memories of the past, but also become a driver of the local economy. By combining tradition and economy, this event has the potential to become a historic moment for Ponorogo. Adv/Ptr
