The Reog Ponorogo Performance Attracts Thousands of Eyes at the Cultural Parade

The Reog Ponorogo performance amazed thousands of eyes during the cultural parade that was held in front of the National Library Building (Perpusnas). No less than 1,000 parade participants were fascinated by the original Ponorogo Regency art performance, as well as being a moment you don’t want to miss.

The procession began at 08.45 WIB. The presence of the Reog Ponorogo art community in the first ranks is impressive. Not only the parade participants, even the Coordinating Secretary for the Economy and General Chairperson of the Association of Ponorogo Residents (Pawargo), Susiwijono Moegiarso, also joined the march.

In the parade which was attended by 1,000 participants, various communities took part, from the Sedulur Warok Reog Ponorogo, the Indonesian Kebaya National Team, to the Herbal Medicine Community BPOM and the Dancing Women’s Community. The diversity of this community is one of the attractions that adds color to this cultural parade.

Not only the community, Ministries of Institutions such as the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture and the Ministry of Education and Culture and Research and Technology, as well as DKI Jakarta provincial students and the general public, also took part in the parade aimed at encouraging the proposal of Reog Ponorogo as an Intangible Cultural Heritage (WBTB) by UNESCO.

The Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture was the initiator of this parade. In order to celebrate the 78th Indonesian Independence Day and support the National Mental Revolution Movement, the Reog Ponorogo cultural parade along with various other cultural arts was held in splendor.

This parade dazzled with the appearance of 1,000 participants presenting various types of arts, including those that have been recognized by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage, such as Balinese Dance, Pencak Silat, Saman Dance, and Angklung.

In addition to dances and arts that have been recognized, this event also features the Drinking Jamu Together Movement which has the potential to become an Intangible Cultural Heritage in the future. The graceful appearance of women in kebaya and the booming of dangdut music also added to the splendor of this cultural parade. All of these are concrete efforts to support government programs and appreciate Indonesia’s cultural richness. Adv/Ptr
