DPR-RI Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Agency Approves Reog Monument and Ponorogo Museum as National Strategic Projects

Members of the People’s Representative Council of the Republic of Indonesia (DPR-RI) visited the Reog Monument and Ponorogo Museum (MRMP) project site in Giri Seto, Sampung Ponorogo District.

Chairman of BKSAP DPR-RI Fadli Zon said he was impressed with the majesty of the MRMP, which is currently working on the fifth floor. He also appreciated the steps taken by Ponorogo Regent Sugiri Sancoko who were serious in building the Reog Ponorogo monument and museum. According to him, this can be an example that culture can be a big capital for Indonesia.

“This is an extraordinary initiative from the Regent. We have seen the structure and mock-ups at the Hall. This should be a model for Indonesia,” he said, Saturday (19/08/2023).

Fadli Zon revealed, in order to ensure the realization of MRMP in Sampung District, his party supports it so that it becomes a National Strategic Project (PSN), according to the proposal from the Coordinating Ministry (Kemenko) for the Economy of the Republic of Indonesia.

“We have to make an effort, because this culture is a wealth for our country. This should be a common concern for how important the Reog Monument and the Ponorogo Museum are,” he said.

Meanwhile, General Chairperson of the Indonesian Museums Association (AMI) Putu Supadma Rudana admitted that this monumental building will be a relic of the current generation for future generations. Nowadays, there is less attention to the history of civilization. “For this reason, I really appreciate the steps taken by the Regent of Ponorogo who has big visions and ideas for the glory of Ponorogo, especially Reog.
