The Regency Government (Pemkab) of Ponorogo continues to support Reog Ponorogo performers. This time, a budget of hundreds of millions was given to support the Reog Ponorogo art gallery.
This was conveyed by the Regent of Ponorogo Sugiri Sancoko when visiting the Reog Ponorogo Art Studio Kawula Bantarangin (KaBa) in Kauman Village/District some time ago.
Together with the Director General of Culture of the Ministry of Education and Culture Hilmar Farid, the Regent saw firsthand the teaching and learning process of the Reog Ponorogo dance at the Kawula Bantarangin studio.
“So we will provide assistance worth Rp. 100 million, which can be realized as a Dadak merak, barongan, or equipment to support the arts,” he said.
Sugiri hopes that this assistance can increase the existence of the Reog studio in Ponorogo, in creating the next generation of Reog Ponorogo.
“So that this cultural cadre does not disappear. There will appear little reog dancer, and little jathils who will become professionals when they grow up, and will infect this cultural virus again wherever they are,” he hoped.

Mifta, head of the Reog Ponorogo Art Studio Kawula Bantarangin, admitted that in his studio there are about 400 children studying Reog Ponorogo art, with a range of ages from 5 to 18 years. A number of his students have performed abroad several times.
“Alhamdulillah, we have been to the Netherlands and Germany. Those who are still children regularly perform in Jakarta. We are grateful for the assistance provided, and it will be used to improve the quality of the studio later,” he concluded. adv/man
