
The Ponorogo Regency Government (Pemkab) continues to foster and preserve the Reog Ponorogo art and its actors.
For example, what the District Government did for the performers of the Reog Obyok art in Ponorogo. To celebrate the 527th anniversary of Ponorogo Regency, 317 Reog Obyok groups will be displayed en masse in Aloon-Aloon Ponorogo City.
Ponorogo Regent Sugiri Sancoko said the display of Reog Obyok was not only to enliven the anniversary, but also to foster the performers of these folk arts. Also in order to provide space for Reog Obyok to appear in annual events, in addition to the Reog Festival which appears in the Ponorogo National Reog Festival (FRNP) and the Youth Reog Festival (FRR).
“Reog Obyok is given a space for anniversaries, and Reog Festival we give space at Grebeg Suro. We give space for both, so that this art is more deeply rooted in society without eliminating the standard of this art itself,” he said, Friday (04/08 /2023).
Sugiri admitted that apart from providing a space for performances, his party had also provided coaching in the form of giving sudden peacock assistance to performers to further preserve Reog Ponorogo.
“It doesn’t have to be a budget, we give space, we help Reog, we help through CSR. We show it at the event, this is our form of coaching to support Reog Obyok.
He hopes that this coaching can further make Reog Obyok actors exist and be enthusiastic. In order for this culture to continue even though Unesco has recognized it as an intangible cultural heritage from Ponorogo.
“The more it exists, our culture continues. Because Reog Ponorogo will continue to exist at any time,” he concluded.
Meanwhile, Head of the Ponorogo Youth and Sport Tourism Culture Office (Disbudparpora) Judha Slamet Sarwo Edi said, later the 317 Reyog Obyok groups from 307 villages and sub-districts throughout Ponorogo will dance together at Aloon-Aloon Ponorogo, accompanied by gamelan and Jathil dancer. “Later there they will form their own group and play together. This will enliven the anniversary of Ponorogo Regency this year, as well as repeat the success of breaking the MURI record in 2022 yesterday,” he concluded. Adv/man
