Batik Training, As an Effort to Preserve Cultural Heritage

Learning batik is currently the main attraction for some people, in addition to regeneration efforts but as a way to preserve cultural heritage, as is the case with adherents of the belief system in Ponorogo Regency. Where they attended training at the Lesoeng batik house.

The participants came from five groups of believers, including Purwo Ayu, Sapta Darma, Travel Mysticism and Kawruh Budi Jati.

Meanwhile Gatot Sugiyono, Presidium III of the Indonesian Council of Trustees (MLKI) explained that this training aims to be entrepreneurial for them in the future.

“There are about 15 people. We give batik training from start to finish,” he said.

He continued, Gatot added that the participants also came from various backgrounds ranging from housewives, students to students.

“After this training, it is hoped that they can make batik and produce it, but assistance will still be provided to marketing,” he explained.

Meanwhile, M. Ali Muchlison, the owner of a batik house in Lesoeng, explained that the training provided was basic introductory material in the process of making batik.

“We introduce the process of making batik in a simple way and later we can develop it ourselves. Starting from the beginning of cutting, coloring to finishing,” he concluded.

He hopes that with this training the public’s interest in batik can continue to rise. Moreover, batik is part of history, where each region has its own characteristics. Adv/Ptr
