One of the list of endangered animals that are protected is the Peacock. Rian Priya Handoko, a resident of Galak Village, Slahung District, Ponorogo, took the initiative to breed birds with beautiful feathers.
Currently, there are three pairs of peacocks kept which will be bred later.
“I am very happy and have a hobby of keeping birds. If the peacock is rare, it is also good, especially when the feathers are fluffy,” he said.
Since a year ago, Rian has been keeping three pairs of peacocks that he bought for one hundred million from a peacock captivity.
“To take care of it is actually not difficult, the food is easy to find, only vegetables, pur and sometimes given crickets,” he added.
The more peacocks he keeps, the feathers can be enough to meet the needs of raw materials for reog crafts.
“Actually, the more people who do captivity, the happier I am. Apart from that, later the feathers that fall out can be used for reog crafts,” he explained.

Deputy Regent of Ponorogo, Lisdyarita said that what Rian was doing deserved support. Moreover, there are young people who want to care about the preservation of the rare animal peacock.
“If the peacock does not become extinct, it will have an impact on the preservation of the Reog Ponorogo art, because peacock feathers are the main raw material,” concluded Mother Rita. Peacocks are indeed endemic, one of which is in Ponorogo. However, because the number is getting smaller, this bird is included in the list of protected and endangered animals.Adv/Ptr
