
Annual Event Grebeg Suro 2023 was Officially opened by Regent Sugiri Sancoko on Sunday (9/7) evening on the main stage of Ponorogo Square. Grebeg Suro is one of the creative economic activities (ekraf) which will make Ponorogo Regency level up. Because this annual activity has a very positive impact on improving the economy.
“Ponorogo has upgraded its class, the economy grows automatically, the people are prosperous,” said Regent Sugiri Sancoko, written Monday (10/07/2023).

Regent Sugiri Sancoko revealed that in the agricultural sector, the community is sufficient to meet their needs. However, he wants to increase his economic status so that Ponorogo can upgrade, by increasing creative activities, and one of them is the Grebeg Suro event.
“By going to class, PAD will increase, the economy will grow, UMKM will grow and education in Ponorogo will get better,” he said. The Grebeg Suro 2023 activity is also an effort by the Ponorogo District Government (Pemkab) to preserve the cultural heritage of the Reog Ponorogo art ancestors.
“With this Grebeg Suro, to polish Reog to add value. As an effort to make Reog global, we also propose it to UNESCO to become an intangible cultural heritage,” said the Regent of Ponorogo. In the opening of Grebeg Suro last night, it was also a symbol of the opening for the 2 Reog festivals.
