The District Government together with the Ponorogo Family Welfare Empowerment Mobilization Team (TP-PKK) finally actually realized the PKK Mall.

Chairperson of TP-PKK Ponorogo Susilowati Sugiri Sancoko said hundreds of products from 6,020 products were displayed in the Gadung Melati Mall window. He admitted that only MSME products that pass the packing and taste and price tests can enter the souvenir center which is located behind the Aloon-Aloon Ponorogo Main Stage.
“In addition to toys, there are batik, bags and woven. We are selecting the ones that are really good and appropriate. The price for chips yesterday was conveyed to mothers no more than Rp. 10,000. Ponorogo Regent Sugiri Sancoko revealed that the name Gadung Melati was chosen for this souvenir house, because Gadung Melati is the name of the batik style for the head covering blankon.
“Gadung melati is a typical Ponorogo batik which is usually used for udeng or blangkon warok. The PKK named Gadungmelati so that it is uniquely beautiful like Gadungmelati. A typical batik that other regions don’t have,” said Sugiri.
The Regent hopes that the existence of Gadung Melati can become a destination for tourists to look for authentic Ponorogo souvenirs. This is also an effort to improve the welfare of small business actors by participating in buying their products. “Hopefully this will be a go-to because the place is in the Ponorogo square.
