History of the Tegalsari Mosque:
In the past, there was a pesantren founded by Kyai Ageng Mohammad Besari, whose mother was the great-granddaughter of Sunan Ampel, and from his father flowed the blood of the king of Majapahit.
Kyai Ageng Mohammad Besari then succeeded in educating his children and grandchildren to become great kyai. The Tegalsari Islamic Boarding School itself experienced its heyday under the tutelage of Kyai Ageng Kasan (Hasan) Besari, the grandson of Kyai Ageng Mohammad Besari. At that time, Tegalsari students numbered tens of thousands and came from all over the archipelago.

Islamic Sanad Tegalsari Nasab Guru Nation:
One of the Tegalsari Islamic Boarding School students, namely Kyai Abdul Manan Dipomenggolo, the founder of one of the oldest Islamic colleges in Tremas Village, Arjosari District, Pacitan Regency, which is the parental home of the 6th President of the Republic of Indonesia Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.
Before becoming a major figure of Islam in Pacitan. It was Kyai Ageng Mohammad Besari who one night saw the young fadhilah (virtue) Abdul Manan whose face shone brightly in the middle of the night. The knowledge that young Abdul Manan got from the nyantri in Tegalsari became his basis for establishing a pesantren in the Manten area, before finally being moved by his grandson to Arjosari.
From Kyai Abdul Manan, great kyai emerged, one of whom was Sheikh Mahfud At-Turmusi, grandson of Kyai Abdul Manan who became the imam of Mecca. From Sheikh Mahfud, there are two major figures of the national Islamic movement; Hadrotussyaikh Hasyim Asy’ari and Kyai Ahmad Dahlan studied.
Furthermore, there is the name Haji Oemar Said (H.O.S) Tjokroaminoto, which is certainly familiar to you. He is the grandson of R.M.A.A Tjokronegoro II, a Ponorogo Regent whose name is immortalized as the name of the Ponorogo Great Mosque. Cokro is the great-grandson of Kyai Ageng Kasan Besari. Cokro then became the head of science for national movement figures, and especially the most popular of course Ir. Soekarno, the first president of independent Indonesia. Adv/Man
