The interest of the younger generation in learning Reog Ponorogo is quite high. This can be seen from the many innovations in introducing Reog to children aged 7 to 12 years.
As did the Department of Culture, Tourism, Youth and Sports, Ponorogo Regency. In order to teach and introduce Reog Ponorogo to Immerson Elementary School students who made a visit, the Regional Apparatus Organization (OPD) of the Ponorogo Regency Government used Wayang Golek media.
Sodiq Pristiwanto as the puppeteer of the puppet show, demonstrating the characters in the Reog art.
The Head of the Tourism Promotion and Creative Economy Division of the Ponorogo Youth Culture and Sports Office, Tini Fifiyantini said, this activity was to introduce Reog art to the younger generation from an early age.
“Through the media wayang golek with Reog characters, this is an effort to introduce Reog Ponorogo art from an early age, which is a product and has become the pride of Ponorogo,” he said.
It is hoped that by getting to know Reog through wayang golek, Ponorogo children will get to know the original Ponorogo arts better. Not only that, this is proof that Reog can be a learning tool for children in introducing identity and the meaning of discipline and mutual cooperation.
“Reog can also be combined with Wayang Golek. This means that this art can blend in with other arts. There are many noble values contained in it. This can be a character lesson for children,” he concluded. adv/man
