Collaborate with students to make Ponorogo a Creative City

Ponorogo Regency Government is serious about realizing Ponorogo as a Creative City, by collaborating with the younger generation, especially students, in branding Ponorogo as a creative city.

As seen in the collaboration initiated by Darussalam University ( UNIDA) and the Ponorogo Sports, Tourism, Youth and Sports Office, which was held at the UNIDA 1st Floor Integrated Building, Wednesday (01/03/2023).

With speakers from the Head of Disbudparpora and Digital Creator Content, as well as the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities UNIDA Dr. Mohamad Latief.

Ponorogo as a Creative City which is now included in the proposal from the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf) to submit to UNESCO was discussed in the seminar which was attended by all students of the Faculty of Humanities.

Dr. Mohamad Latief said that as a city of culture, Ponorogo has an advantage in branding itself as a creative city. He gave an example of the existence of Reog as an integral part of being a capital in realizing Ponorogo as a World Creative City.

“Reog can be an identity in branding Ponorogo. Because this culture is so thick in this area, it’s just a matter of how we make events or festivals that make reog the main role as a driving force for the creative economy that is already running,” he said.

Head of Disbudparpora Ponorogo Judha Slamet Sarwo Edi added, although Ponorogo does not have a sea, it is far from access to national development and charming natural potential. However, the existing local wisdom with the majority of its people being creative artists has made Ponorogo a Creative City.

“We don’t really have seas, beautiful mountains, charming lakes. However, the culture in Ponorogo has proven to be able to drive the people’s economy. Many young entrepreneurs, content creators have emerged by exposing Reog,” he explained.

In this activity, photos from student shots with the theme of the creative city were also exhibited, which contained many images of the creativity of the performers of the Reog Ponorogo performing arts. Man
