Reog Goes To Europe, Becomes Attention in 4 Countries

Reog Ponorogo Road Show in 4 European countries including the Netherlands, Belgium, France and Germany has succeeded in becoming a show magnet on the blue continent.

This was seen when Reog Ponorogo appeared at the Dutch Tong-tong Fair event, and the Kris Lambert Library, Oostende City, Belgium last Sunday. The Reog Ponorogo performance succeeded in becoming the biggest attraction at the event. How could it not be, it seems that hundreds of people gathered just to witness this Ponorogo native culture.

"It's amazing, we can see all the muscles of the dancers (pembarong-ed) really being used," said Scott, a Belgian who saw the Reog Ponorogo performance.

Scott was very impressed with the skills and strength of the Reog Ponorogo mask dancers, especially the sudden peacock dancers. He admitted that he had visited Indonesia several times, but had never seen the Reog Ponorogo show. He said that according to him the staging of Reog Ponorogo was fantastic.

"We can see there are a lot of dynamic movements in the action of the Reog Ponorogo performance, and that's fantastic," he said.


After performing, 14 Reog Gos To Europe artists this time held a workshop at the Indonesian Embassy in Paris, France. In this workshop, the artists discussed Reog music and dance from September 13 to 15.
