Even though it does not yet hold the title of Indonesia’s Creative Regency/City in 2022. However, Ponorogo Regency is now officially included in the Creative Regency/City ecosystem in Indonesia alongside 64 creative Regencies/Cities in the archipelago at this time. In East Java alone, only Sidoarjo Regency and Malang City hold the title of Creative City of Indonesia.

This was revealed in the signing of the Minutes (BA) of the results of the Infonesia Creative Regency/City Self-Assessment (PMK3I), which was carried out by the Director of Creative Economy Infrastructure of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Ministry of Creative Economy Tourism) Hariyanto, together with the Deputy Regent of Ponorogo Lisdyarita, and 3 actors creative economy sub-sector (Ekraf) in Bumi Reyog, Thursday (14/04/2022).

Haryanto said, according to the results of the assessment and mapping carried out by the PMK3I team from the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy from April 11 to 14 in Ponorogo, and based on the Group Discussion Forum (FGD) with actors in 3 Creative Subsectors covering performing arts, culinary arts and Handicrafts (Kriya). So it was agreed that Ponorogo Regency would become a Creative Regency in Indonesia with the leading sub-sector of the Reog Ponorogo performing arts.

“So Ponorogo has officially entered the ecosystem of Indonesia’s Creative Regency/City, along with 64 existing districts/cities. Because with the leading sub-sector of the Reog performing arts, it’s just waiting for the determination from the minister (Sandiaga Uno.red),” he said.

In order to realize this in the next two years, and realize the long-term target, namely the registration of Ponorogo Regency as the Unesco Creative City Network (UCCN) or Unesco creative city network. So starting this year the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy will begin assisting Ponorogo in developing Creative Economy. By taking the following steps; product revitalization and development, innovation, and verification, registration of HAKI, PIRT, NIB in 2022; Collaboration with academics and other KaTa, developing event organizers, expanding cultural policies and preparing for UCCN submissions in 2023, Optimization of local, national and international event calendars, and the Ina Craft exhibition in 2024.

Meanwhile, Deputy Regent of Ponorogo Lisdyarita said he was happy that Ponorogo had the opportunity to enter the network of creative districts/cities in Indonesia, to the opportunity to be registered with UCCN. This has become an encouragement for the struggle that the government is currently carrying out in fighting for Reog to become a Unesco Intangible Cultural Heritage (WBTB).

“We will be serious and support this to be realized, we will follow up all the instructions and notes given. In the future, in order to keep this ecosystem developing, we will routinely hold events both locally and regionally to nationally, even involving the Culinary and Craft Subsector in Ponorogo. So that the funds grow and develop. What’s more now that Covid-19 is starting to decline,” he concluded. man
